A late afternoon view across the rooftops of Kavaklidere, south of the city centre, this from an apartment in Büklüm Sokağı. In the distance the minarets of the Kocatepe Mosque, whilst on the left tower blocks stand alongside Atatürk Boulevard. At this time it was not uncommon to see a gypsy accompanied by a ‘dancing’ bear walking these leafy streets. Thankfully those days have passed.
